February 09

Late Winter

What i should be doing now in February.

Chit potatoes 2nd earlies, plant garlic bulbs buy fruit bushes and trees. Sort summer baskets ready for basket tomatoes, make a tyre for carrots, collect toilet rolls and bottles for closhes. Put chilli the rabbit back outside and the herbs from the greenhouse. End of feb put leek trays outside to harden of in daytime. Bought 1 blackcurrant bush and potted in container in greenhouse.

Sow-

Celeriac, parsnip, leeks, broad beans, celery, spring onions, toms, lettuce, celery, normal toms, pepper, chilli and beetroot.

02/02/09 -Snow all week the seeds growing in gh and windowsil (toms, lett, red cabb have all popped up).
09/02/09 -Snow again this morning, 4 degrees in gh.

12/02/09
Put 28 peas into seed compost in 1/2 cut loo rolls. with lid on into gh. put (24/1 toms) in gh with lid on. Sown 6 chilli, 4 basket toms, 4 cucumbers, 4 peppers, and 20 red cherry toms in to a sow and grow 24 module with lid on in bathroom window.

14/02/09 -Snow gone, put (24/1) carrots in gh with lid on.
16/02/09 -10 degrees in gh
17/02/09 - 5 toms and 2 cucumbers popped up (12/02).
19/02/09 - 1 cucumber and rest of noral toms popped up and 4 basket toms (12/02).


21/02/09
11 degrees am and 25 degrees pm in gh, moved 2 trays of leeks outside to harden off and garlic. Chitttied 26 broad beans in paper, sown 1 white tray leeks and set 8 parsnips in loo rolls in tray in bathroom window.

24/02/09 - 10 degrees gh 2 peppers popped in windowsil (24/01. Put herbs outside again and rabbit, put cucumbers and spring onions outside in gh.
27/02/09 - Potted 24 broad beans (21/2)
28/02/09 - Repotted peas from loo rolls into square black pots and doing better now.

January 09


Mid Winter

What i should be doing now in January.

Chit potatoes 1st earlies, plant garlic bulbs, start digging for parsnips and beans and peas and cover the soil with plastic to warm. Find containers, old tyres or bags for sowing carrots and potatoes. Start collecting loo rolls eans, leeks, ttles to protect peas, beans, leeks, parsnips.

Sow-

Carrots, leeks, Broad beans, peas, red summer cabbage,celeriac, celery, lettiue,cucumbers, chilli, peppers, tomatoes and beetroot.

04/01/09

Chitting 7 tates in greenhouse, planted 6 garlic heads in greenhouse and planted 7 in soil already shooting.

16/01/09

Planted 3 elephant garlic, 1 white tray leeks, 64 beetroot, 40 red cabbage, 20 lettuce, 1/2 seed tray of celeriac and 1/2 seed tray of celery all in greenhouse. Chitted 26 broad beans.

10/01/09

Potted 23 of 26 broad beans, 6 garlic heads and put 15 little tates in greenhouse to chit.

20/01/09

Turned an old tyre inside out filled 1/2 with soil and 1/2 John Innies seed compost topped with vermiculite, sown early nantie carrots and bubblewrapped for warmth, very frostie. Brrr snow and frosts next week.

24/01/09

Kitchen windowsil - sown 12 pepper, 6 cucumber, 6 chilli, 10 basket toms in pots in a tray with lid on.
Sown 1/2 seed tray carrots, 1/2 seed tray of spring onions. both with lid in front room, nice and warm.. Snow all week.

December 08




Early Winter

What i should be doing in December.

Plant garlic bulbs, Salads can be sown now until April.

Greenhouse sow-

Cucumbers, peppers, chilli, tomatoes, lettice, radish, spring onions, broad beans, leeks and strawberries.

02/12/08

Set 1 white seed tray of leeks 14*22. Half a tray of spring onions.

November 08




Late Autumn

What i should be doing now in November

Plant garlic bulbs and plant onion sets.

Sow-

Broad beans and peas.

October 08


Mid Autumn

What i should be doing in October -

Plant garlic bulbs, spring bulbs and onion sets.

Order any fruit trees/bush, last cut of the lawn, and sow lawn seed. Bring herbs into the greenhouse and start to bubblewrap the inside of the greenhouse.

Sow- Broad beans and peas.

Potted 10 beans and 10 peas for the home veg patch,in greenhouse
sown radish and rocket straight in to home veg patch.

Early Autumn

We have our new allotment now after only waiting about 1 month on the council waiting list!
Been down there to have a loook its a very long but thin lottie , with a shabby old shed.

What i should be doing on lottie this month -

Sow -
Broad beans normal spinich spring oinions lettice rocket radish, buy Onion sets plant garlic bulbs and set spring onions and spring bulbs.

Planted 12 garlic in home veg patch, set broad beans, peas, and rocket.
